CASH-crippled Argyll and Bute Council must make swingeing cuts totalling £16.8 MILLION next year just to balance its ever-shrinking budget.

Services once taken for granted are facing having to make savings of up to 20 PER CENT – with hundreds of jobs set to be axed – as the global economic crisis bites ferociously right across the district.
