THEFTS and violence – including an alleged assault on a police officer – were on the agenda over the last week for Dunoon’s finest.
An officer attending a house on Alexandra Parade was allegedly attacked by a 30-year-old man inside the premises last Wednesday night.
Meanwhile, police are investigating the theft of a quantity of valuable jewellery from a house in Royal Crescent.
It is understood that the thief got access to the property sometime between 3 January and Monday, 23 January.
Police – who are warning people to be wary of anyone trying to sell jewellery at a discount price – say “other items” were also stolen from the house.
And they also want to hear from anyone who saw anyone acting suspiciously around the property.
A 20-year-old woman allegedly stole a car in Kirn during the very early hours of last Sunday.
Police who arrested her say she has been charged with “taking and driving away a motor vehicle without the consent of the owner”.
A quantity of money was stolen from a coat pocket in a classroom at Dunoon Grammar School between 2.50pm and 3.20pm last Wednesday.
Two men were reported for careless driving following two separate incidents. A 22-year-old driver has additionally been reported for failing to stop and report an accident last Saturday night in George Street, Dunoon.
Meanwhile, a 42-year-old man is facing court for driving carelessly last Thursday morning on High Road, Sandbank.
And a 22-year-old man was arrested for drink driving early last Friday morning on Dunoon’s Ardenslate Road.
A 24-year-old man was arrested over an alleged serious assault on Tuesday morning in Sandbank.
One of Dunoon’s passenger-only ferries was the scene of a theft of a grey Nokia mobile phone last Friday morning. The incident took place on the 9.20am service from Dunoon to Gourock.
A breach of the peace at Dunoon Community Hospital last Sunday night resulted in the arrest of a 47-year-old man.
A 21-year-old man has been reported to the procurator fiscal following an alleged theft in a pub in the centre of Dunoon in the very early hours of last Sunday.
Police arrested a 47-year-old man for assault inside a house in Hunters Quay last Saturday night.
A 17-year-old youth has been arrested over the unlawful possession of a controlled drug in Pilot Street, Dunoon. Police have not disclosed which drug.
