CowalCourier.com is written, edited and published by award-winning journalist and Dunoon man David Goodwin.

David was previously editor of the Dunoon Observer and Argyllshire Standard newspaper until 1999 when he left to join News International Newspapers in Glasgow.

During his time at News International, David – part of the multi-award-winning Scottish Sun news team – was shortlisted for Reporter of the Year in the Scottish Press Awards on a number of occasions and won a Journalist Team of the Year Prize with his colleague Alan Carson.

After leaving The Scottish Sun last year, David has most recently enjoyed a period as senior reporter with the Greenock Telegraph – Scotland’s Campaigning Newspaper of the Year for 2010, and winner of a UK Regional Press campaign accolade this year.

David is also a full member of the Society of Editors, a UK-wide body committed to the universal right to freedom of expression; the importance of the vitality of the news media in a democratic society; the promotion of internet media, press and broadcasting freedom; the public’s right to know; and high editorial standards.
